We’re glad you looked here. VentCube is very sensitive to online privacy concerns. All websites should have a privacy policy, plain and simple. Your privacy policy should be clear and straightforward about what information your website collects and how it’s used. Here’s ours:

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Collection and use of personally identifiable information

At our website, you can request more information about our services, download materials from our talks, and other interactive services. The types of personally identifiable information that may be collected at these pages include: name, address, email address, telephone number, fax number, and information about your projects.

We do not share or otherwise disclose any personal information, including your name, address, or email addresses with other organizations. Only VentCube staff and our authorized agents have access to personally identifiable information provided by visitors to our website. We do not lease, rent or sell the information we collect. People who affirmatively submit their contact information through the VentCube website may be contacted by VentCube staff.

Browser information collected on the website

As with any website operator, VentCube analyzes our website logs to constantly improve the value of our website. We use an external service to provide real-time reporting of browser accesses to our website to us and our authorized agents. This includes page views, unique views, unique visitors, repeat visitors, frequency of visits and peak-volume traffic periods. We do not use this service to gather, request, record, require, collect or track any Internet users’ personally identifiable information.

Privacy of our email lists

VentCube maintains an email list to keep interested parties informed about various activities of the firm. Individuals must affirmatively request to join our mailing lists. In addition, we do not share the email addresses on our lists with outside organizations. List server software is configured to refuse to divulge the email addresses of our list subscribers to anyone but authorized VentCube staff, including other list subscribers. Only VentCube staff have access to personally identifiable information provided by visitors to our website.

If you receive a promotional email from VentCube, such as a send-to-a-friend communication, we will not contact any of the email addresses obtained as a result of the promotional communication.

Children’s privacy

Because we care about the safety and privacy of children online, we comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA). COPPA and its accompanying FTC regulation establish United States federal law that protects the privacy of children using the Internet. We do not knowingly contact or collect personal information from children under 13. Our website is not intended to solicit information of any kind from children under 13, and we have designed our website to block our knowing acceptance of information from children under 13 whenever age-related information is requested.

It is possible that by fraud or deception we may receive information pertaining to children under 13. If we are notified of this, as soon as we verify the information, we will immediately obtain parental consent or otherwise delete the information from our servers. If you want to notify us of our receipt of information by children under 13, please do so by emailing us at hello@ventcube.com.

Security

VentCube has appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss or misuse of information that we have collected from you at our website.

Remarketing

As a company that specializes in marketing and brand management, we care a lot about matching the right message to the right audience. That’s why we use a popular advertising strategy called remarketing to deliver targeted ads to our website visitors via the use of cookies. When you visit our website, we place a text file (“cookie”) on your browser.

In general, cookies improve your online experience by recording preferences and account information to personalize subsequent website visits, saving you time without compromising your security. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or transmit viruses to your computer, and third-party vendors such as Google commonly utilize them to serve you ads based on the websites you visit. When you visit our website and later see our ads on websites across the Internet, you’ll know that we are remarketing to you.

Remarketing does not compromise your privacy in any way, but we still think you deserve to call the shots when it comes to your personal information and online experience. To opt out of Google’s use of cookies, visit Google’s Ads Settings.

If you have any questions about our privacy policy, please let us know.
